I'm a college student who recently got a crock pot. Growing up with my mother's and grandmother's recipes has inspired me to venture out into my own world of cooking. I'll be posting my creations, recipes I find (thanks Pinterest!) and I'll post submissions from anyone who sends me a recipe! Enjoy!

Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
Hey everyone!
Here is the recipe I used for V-Day!
RIBS
¾ teaspoon black pepper
¾ teaspoon white pepper
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/3; cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon paprika
1 ½ teaspoons salt
4 lbs beef ribs
0.75 (16 ounce) bottle barbecue sauce (I used a sauce from the Heavy Seas Brewery… it was made with Small Craft)
Directions:
1. Combine rub ingredients mixing well. (Caution, they’re a bit spicy!)
2. Rub on all sides of ribs.
3. Place ribs meaty side up in crock pot.
4. Cover; cook on low for 6 hours.
5. Drain the grease from the crock.
6. Place the ribs back in and cover with bbq sauce.
7. Cook for another hour.
MASHED POTATOES WITH LEEKS
2-3 Potatoes
2-3 Leeks
Dice and wash potatoes
Dice (white and green part) of Leeks, rinse well
Boil potatoes until tender
Grill leeks in butter until tender, add salt and pepper
Once potatoes are done, drain and mash with milk and butter, salt and pepper. Add leeks.

The ribs with the rub on it.

After 6 hours of cooking, drained and the sauce poured over it.

Finished product… It was amazing. I ended up using Sweet BBQ sauce as well after thy came out because they had a little too much kick to me. So the spicy and sweet went really well together. Topped off with really tasty potatoes and a nice bottle of wine!
For dessert we had lava cakes, ice cream and the new episode of The Walking Dead.
Amazing night!
This Sunday (the 12th) my boyfriend and I are having our Valentine’s day. He works on the actual night so dinner would be impossible. Here’s the menu,
Not just regular beef stew. I added some different things in…
Ingredients:
2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into 1 inch cubes
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 clove garlic, minced
1 bay leaf
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (I added probably 3, it’s good flavor)
1 onion, chopped
3 cups of water and 3 beef cubes (can be found next to beef broth! these are just broth concentrated into dry cubes)
3 potatoes, diced
4 carrots, sliced
1/4 cabbage, finely diced
A handful of chopped red pepper
Place meat in slow cooker. In a small bowl mix together the flour, salt, and pepper; pour over meat, and stir to coat meat with flour mixture.
Stir in the garlic, bay leaf, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, onion, beef broth, potatoes, carrots, cabbage and red peppers.
Cover, and cook on Low setting for 10 to 12 hours, or on High setting for 4 to 6 hours. (Mine is cooking on high for 6 hours, and every hour I go and stir it up.)
**Also, if your broth doesn’t cover everything that’s ok! Cabbage is very bulky and cooks down, after about 2 hours everything was submerged in the broth.**
I shall post pictures of the finished result! Were going to pour it over white rice!
Posts to come soon I promise!
